Hello everyone! I’m Kari Kriewald, fashion and beauty blogger at Sophisticated Whimsy. Today I am sharing five things that I experienced on my wedding day that no bride would know what to prepare for. Read on for a scoop on what the unsuspecting bride to expect!
You’ve planned your magical day, everything from the shows to the party favors encompasses your personal touch and your partner’s vision. You’ve imagined everything from start to finish a hundred times and haven’t failed even once. It is one of the best days of your life and you want everything to be perfect. Not too much to ask, is it? Not at all.
But between the nerves, the excitement, and the anticipation – here are five things you probably didn’t know would happen on your wedding day.
1. No matter how much time you spend preparing, it is never enough.
Whether you schedule your hairstyle and makeup to last four hours, five hours, or longer, it never seems long enough. The last 15 minutes before the ceremony starts is total chaos – it’s inevitable. Emotions are on the rise and people will rush to perfect and finalize their looks.
2. Moments before walking down the hall, you will be extremely nervous.
You are not nervous about marrying your other half, but you are because you are about to make a life-changing decision in front of your family and closest friends. Listening to the music of the procession and listening to “All Rise” to see heads turn and all eyes on you can definitely make you feel a certain way. The good news is that the nerves diminish quickly when you are standing at the altar with your love. It’s definitely a feeling you can’t be prepared for, but make sure to embrace every second of it.
3. You will not remember everything perfectly.
You will probably remember the sequence of events that took place on your wedding day, but probably not the finer details. For example, you will more than likely remember everyone you talked to, but you won’t necessarily know what was said. The day will go by too quickly and some portions will be more blurry than others.
4. There will be guests you may not even see.
Whether you want to believe it or not, this is unfortunately true. Of course, the total number of guests attending is an important factor in this case. But through it all, being a girlfriend or boyfriend is hard work and definitely requires a thoughtful strategy to ensure that you individually greet everyone. Try to keep conversations short and do your rounds as a couple, rather than individually. Be polite and courteous, but don’t take the conversation to an extreme where it’s difficult to get out. You have a lot of people to say hello to before the night is over and that’s already a stretch.
5. Your dress will get dirty, and that’s okay.
You spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on your perfect wedding dress, so it is natural that you expect it to remain flawless all night. But between the “dress stepper-oners” and the twists on the dance floor, it’s almost impossible. There comes a time in the night when you will have a moment of realization and you accept that the dress will be faulty when you leave. But hey, that’s what dry cleaning is for and it’s only used once.
