“My biggest thought was to make sure I kept my composure when I saw her walk down the hall for the first time. We had purposely avoided a first glance to preserve that moment, and I was afraid that my excitement would lead me to get excited in front of everyone we knew. Fortunately, I held it together and will always remember it as one of the best moments of my life. ” – Joey married Catherine on October 4 in Stevensville, Maryland.

“My second biggest thought was hoping the weather would cooperate at the time of the wedding. The night before there was a torrential downpour, to the point that our premises were flooded the morning of the wedding. However, the weather gods conspired to bring out the sun a couple of hours before we started, which dried everything up and led to a perfect ceremony. Future boyfriends: don’t worry about the weather; you can’t control it, so don’t waste your energy on it. ”

“Lastly, I really expected Virginia Tech to beat UNC in the football game that afternoon! Not only are we Hokies, but the vast majority of our guests are Hokies too, and a victory that day would certainly be great for positive energy (and a great sign for our marriage too!).

“For a moment, he was convinced that he had ruined everything. At that time he had a fairly large beard. I had thought about shaving it for the wedding, but Amanda begged me to keep it. I decided to cut it out, which I did an hour before the ceremony. When I was doing this, the protector on my undercut slipped, and I ended up taking off about 90 percent of the length of a large area on my chin. I ended up having to match everything up to that point. I was convenience, it looked awful, and I was scared that Amanda would get mad. Of course, in the end, it wasn’t a big deal. ” – Marshall married Amanda on November 1 in Kansas City, Missouri
