So what do I wear? A formal rental store is the perfect place to start your search. You’ll find insider tips and a fantastic selection of styles, fabrics, colors, and accessories.

If your wedding is more informal, light fabrics are ideal. Styles can include less structured cuts with a smooth shoulder line and two or three jacket buttons. The colors to consider are taupe, white, light gray or blue, beige, tan or brown. Pair your suit with an open-neck shirt or tie, and a pair of light-colored shoes.

Get a slightly more formal look with a darker colored suit with more contour and a firmer shoulder line. The fabric can be heavier, and if you don’t want to wear a tie, choose a shirt with a trendy print. If your wedding is unreservedly formal, then you should think about a traditional double or single breasted dinner suit, or a gray coat for the morning, possibly tails and perhaps a vest or sash. Three-quarter or peacock jackets are also a popular choice. A classic shirt with French cuffs and cufflinks is perfect, and a tie is a definite possibility.

For a cocktail-style wedding, you can move away from strict formality and be a little more adventurous. Opt for a charcoal or gray, striped or solid color suit, or you may prefer one of the wonderful, rich colors that have become a feature of modern suits.

And it is important that you stand out from the crowd. A different jacket than your assistants is one way to achieve this. The variety in your vests also makes a mark, or if you need to, you can try on different types of ties to make sure you shine on your big day.
