Niraja and Sumit got engaged on May 1 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Sumit surprised Niraja by planning a romantic proposal on the Magnolia Bridge.

“We came to a bridge next to the Sumit dental school and I saw Sumit waiting on the bridge,” Niraja said. “I immediately started crying before I could say anything. I ran in super high heels and I was freezing, but it didn’t matter because seeing Sumit waiting for me was probably the most exciting thing I’ve ever seen. ”

Although Niraja knew what was happening when a Rolls Royce appeared at her house, she couldn’t contain her excitement when she saw Sumit.

The two met at Louisiana State University at a party that Niraja threw. She added it on Facebook and soon forgot to meet him.

“Not once did I think that six years later, we would meet again in the Red Dress Race.[en Nueva Orleáns] in 2014, ”Niraja said. He saw me walking down Bourbon Street towards my hotel and specifically said to his best man: “I want to go talk to her, she could be my future wife.”

“I didn’t know that Sumit had hired Christie Froom to capture our proposal, and all the photos are so true and sincere.” Niraja said. “I was really so excited to see the size of my rock.”

“I cried all the time and couldn’t believe that I was going to marry someone who was just like me, except with short hair,” recalls Niraja. “Everything was a surprise.”

The couple will tie the knot on April 1, 2021 at the Sheraton New Orleans Hotel.

“Yes, it is April Fools’ Day, but hey, it will be easy to remember and there is no festival in New Orleans at the time,” Niraja said. “We expect 430 people. We fell in love with the high ceilings of the Armstrong Ballroom at the Sheraton. ”

The Indian wedding will take place over three days and will include traditional Indian food with a New Orleans twist, Niraja said.

“We have always wanted a great Indian wedding, like our parents,” he added. “We want to have a great Indian / New Orleans style wedding. We have always believed in this motto: “Indian roots with American dreams.”
